Waltman, Anna

EGO ยป UMass English Grad Students

Anna is a first-year student in the MA/PhD program; she also hopes to complete the Graduate Certificate in Advanced Feminist Studies. Hailing from the largely rural underbelly of NJ called "Down Jersey," she received her BA from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD, where she double-majored in Political Science and English Literature and almost minored in French. She also completed a summer of intensive French study at Middlebury College post-graduation. Anna has a lot of academic interests which she plans to narrow down a bit, but she primarily works with the following subjects: transnational literature; postcolonial literature and theory; feminist criticism; the 20th Century and its various modernisms; political theory, and genres where visual art and literature intersect. She spends her spare time lampworking (sculpting hot borosilicate glass over a large bench-mounted torch), knitting, cooking, playing music, drinking tea and/or white wine and hanging out with her two cats. Anna works as a TA for the English Department.
