The Carolina Chocolate Drops are playing at the Iron Horse Music Hall this Valentine's Day at 7 PM. They are self-described as an African American String Band. They play old time music featuring banjos, fiddles, jug, bones, etc. They are amazing and I'm trying to promote this show so they sell out and come to entertain us in Northampton often. There are three members. You can download their concerts for free at archive.org's live music section. It is legal (the site has their written permission posted.) Come show this amazing band some love on Valentine's Day (!). It's fun like you wouldn't believe to see them live. They know lots about music history and you'll be educated as well as entertained by their performance and presentation.

Um. Yes please. Oh, and I thought you were saying this event planning was going to include curling. I was sorely disappointed when I realized you were just talking about chocolate and warmth. Naturally, I spit on both of those things.

Vermont! Stowe is supposed to be incredible. Killington is enormous. Stratton is expensive. Mount Snow is cool I hear. Keep me posted!!

Last winter, Vermont and New Hampshire (not to mention good ol' Mass) experienced record snowfall, which made for some kickass snow sports. We hope this winter does not disappoint.

If you would like to join in for a weekend of snow-related activities (which does include curling up by the fire with potent form of hot chocolate) during January or February, sound off here, or send an email to lisha: lstorey(at)english.umass.edu.

Also, post your recommendations and ideas for places to stay.

We could even change this thread to encompass snow sports in general, so people looking for rides to mountains can hook up and head out.
